We’re approaching the end of 2024 at breakneck speed but that’s hardly surprising, given that this is the year of the Cheetah. Most of our readers will know what we’re talking about, but just to be clear, we are of course referring to the latest version of Fraxses, and not the Chinese Zodiac.
Cheetah went live in May and was the focus of our mailer that month. To recap, it offers the same features and workflow as 2023’s Turaco release, but introduces important backend improvements that are facilitated by Apache Kyuubi. The integration of this leading open source technology into Fraxses streamlines the platform’s architecture, removing the need for a custom Security Server, handling security at the query plan level and reducing infrastructure complexity. In addition, it allows for native Spark drivers to be used to connect to Fraxses Data Objects, thus improving connectivity and eliminating dependencies. A further key advantage Kyuubi provides is enhanced scalability and optimised utilisation of resources, which are allocated dynamically and shut off when not needed.
That’s a very high level summary. If you’d like to know a little more, read our Fraxses Cheetah on the Loose blogpost. For a more comprehensive overview, watch the Official Cheetah Release Notes video on our YouTube channel.
As the saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Several of our customers have upgraded to Cheetah over the past 6 months, and the feedback we’ve received to date has been positive across the board. Most recently, a key stakeholder at a large organisation had this to say: “One of our environments was recently upgraded to Cheetah, and we immediately noted a considerable increase in the processing speed and responsiveness within Legoz. We are delighted with Cheetah’s performance and the difference it has made.”
There you have it! If you’re still running an earlier version of Fraxses, contact us now to upgrade to Cheetah. And if you’ve been considering Fraxses as your data management solution but haven’t taken the plunge yet – where better to start than with the fastest and most efficient version of the platform to date!
