Dear Reader,

Webinar: Chris Tite on the Evolution of Data Architecture

The world of data technology is a constantly evolving landscape; as data demands increase, we must find better ways to manage the data at our disposal and this drives the emergence of new data architectures. For a succinct summary of where we’re at and how we got here, look no further than Chris Tite’s presentation on The Evolution of Data Architecture.

A regular speaker at tech conferences, Chris is a director of Kaleidocode and senior data architect with over 20 years of software development experience. In this presentation, Chris looks at the evolution of data technology, from data on files, through relational databases, to data warehouses, lakes, swamps and data marts. While each new concept offers advantages over the technology that preceded it, they all have their limitations, which are outlined in the presentation.

The simple but powerful concept of the metadata-driven data fabric represents a complete departure from previous approaches. Chris unpacks the way that data fabrics work, before going on to describe how Fraxses supports the concept. His presentation includes an overview of the roles that the platform’s key modules play in facilitating the creation of a powerful data ecosystem. This is further supported by Fraxses’ microservice architecture, which allows for custom services to be written into the platform. Additional advantages include the fact that different parts of the system are easily scalable, and that Fraxses is cloud-ready and built on trusted open-source technology.

Chris wraps up with a brief summary of the data mesh, in which data is broken up into decentralised domains, concluding that as with the data fabric, Fraxses is ideal for supporting the data mesh concept.

Advantages of Bespoke Software Development

To go bespoke or off-the-shelf, that is the question that many organisations have deliberated!

Off-the-shelf software is accessible and affordable, and may be adequate to meet your business’s needs. But when you have specific requirements, as most businesses do, identifying a pre-packaged solution that does exactly what you need it to can be challenging. Indeed, it’s unlikely you’ll find a solution that’s ideal in all respects, due to the generic nature of off-the-shelf products.

Custom software development, otherwise known as bespoke software development, is a key component of Intenda’s service offering. As the customers for whom we’ve delivered bespoke solutions will attest, software that has been designed specifically for your business is well worth the investment.

In our latest blog post, we look at three of the many advantages that bespoke software can give your business. If you’re currently deliberating whether to go bespoke or off-the-shelf, be sure to have a read before making your decision!
